Judson - 12 months

I have so many things to say about this past year, about how amazing and challenging and tough and hard and wonderful life is with 2 boys, about Judson and how sweet and crazy and silly and wild and smart and tough he is. And I promise I'll get to all those things one day, hopefully soon! But until then, here's his 12 month pictures...

Judson - 11 months

Judson - 10 months

I just realized I haven't posted from Judd's 10th and 11th months, so stay tuned!!

Here's pictures. We haven't been to the pediatrician since 9 months, so no idea his stats. And he's on the go, so whatever!!!!! :)

Judson - 9 months

Age: 9 months

Height: 30"

Weight: 20lbs. 4.5oz.

Milestones: Judd has been crawling for awhile now, and can now crawl up stairs, pull up, cruise and stand up on his own! He loves walking with his little push walker thing, too! He can pick up small objects easily now, plays SO BIG and is soooo close to clapping!

Sleep: For the most part, Judd sleeps 8pm-7am and rarely wakes up at night (woohoo!!!). He takes 2 naps each day, usually around 9am and 1pm and they last anywhere from 1-2 hours.

Eating: We are on the same schedule as last month (current schedule here), so I'm nursing 3x/day and giving 1 bottle of pumped milk before bed, and he's eating 3 solid meals. We just recently started table food and he really loves it! He's such a good boy!

Clothes size: 12 and 18 months

Diaper size: size 4

Teeth: 2

Favorite toy: His brother? haha! They are constantly wrestling and playing with each other. It's so sweet (most of the time)!

Likes: big brother, eating, sleeping, being outside, the dogs

Dislikes: being overtired or hungry

Personality: Judd is still very easy-going, unless we're off schedule or he's hungry.

Best moment: we've had a really fun month, can't really think of a specific moment that was great though....

Worst moment: teething

Looking forward to: we have lots of fun stuff coming up this month, also hoping for some cooler weather!!!

Judson - 8 months

Age: 8 months

Height: we don't go back until 9 months

Weight: we went to the pediatrician a few weeks ago for what I thought was an ear infection (turned out to be teething), and he weighed 19lbs. 10.5oz.

Milestones: Judson is on the go!! He refuses to sit still for more than a second. He's constantly chasing after his brother and dogs, pulling-up on everything, and he's just started cruising on the tables and couches. We moved Judd to his convertible carseat recently, and he loves it! So much  more room for him, and he can see his brother better. He's been "talking" a lot lately, and I'm pretty sure he is saying "mama" with meaning...which pretty much melts my heart! We started letting Judd walk around in his walker and he really likes that! Most of the time Jacob pushes him around, but occasionally Judd gets to move on his own.

Sleep: A few weeks ago Judd started teething, he was super drooly and fussy. I think he also got a bit of a cold, so he was waking up at night. I fed him for 2 weeks at night because he seemed to need it, either the milk or the comfort, not sure and don't care. During those 2 weeks, we moved, so I know that threw him off too. But, he cut his first 2 teeth and seems to be doing better now, so we're back to sleeping through the night (7:30pm-7am). He's pretty much down to 2 naps per day, at 9am and 1pm. If he takes a short afternoon nap, we might put him down in the early evening for a catnap, but most of the time we just put him down for bed a bit early.

Eating: We are on the same schedule as last month (current schedule here), so I'm nursing 3x/day and giving 1 bottle of pumped milk before bed, and he's eating 3 solid meals. I've tried bigger finger foods and he doesn't really like them, so we are still doing purees.

Clothes size: 12 months

Diaper size: size 3

Teeth: He got his bottom 2 teeth this month!

Favorite toy: Oh boy, since moving we've unpacked ALL THE TOYS and he is in heaven up in the playroom! There's so much he hasn't seen and he loves just letting loose and crawling around to everything.

Likes: big brother, eating, sleeping, being outside, the dogs

Dislikes: being overtired or hungry

Personality: Judd is still very easy-going, unless we're off schedule or he's hungry.

Best moment: celebrating my birthday with my TWO boys this year, when Jacob spent a long weekend at Camp Coco and we got to spend 1-on-1 time with Judson. I could tell he loved it. And Judd's baptism yesterday.

Worst moment: teething- he was a bear for a few days there!

Looking forward to: August is going to be a very quiet month for us- lots of unpacking and getting settled. Jacob starts school in early September, so we're just enjoying this month at our new house!

Judson - 7 months

Age: 7 months

Height: we don't go back until 9 months

Weight: we don't go back until 9 months

Milestones: Judson is sitting up unassisted, pulling up and trying to crawl, eating lots of baby food, babbling all the time, and such a funny little guy! He said "mama" the other day, which totally melted my heart! He's still in his infant carseat, but we'll be moving him to the convertible seat soon because he's almost too long for the infant one! Judd can pick up small objects with his fingers and gets very close to putting them in his mouth.

Sleep: Judd is still sleeping really good! He sleeps 7:30pm-7am, and most nights he doesn't wake up at all. He takes two naps- 9am and 1pm. Lately he's been taking a short afternoon nap, so he's been taking a third nap around 4-4:30pm. But overall- he's a fantastic sleeper!

Eating: I am still nursing Judd 3x/day PLUS we give him a bottle of pumped milk right before bed, and he gets 3x meals each day. He loves chewing on Puffs, and we'll be adding in some finger foods soon.

Clothes size: 9 and 12 months

Diaper size: size 3

Teeth: none yet!

Favorite toy: He still loves all of big brother's legos, hot wheels, balls, etc. We got out the activity table and he really loves standing at that!

Likes: big brother, eating, sleeping, being outside, the dogs

Dislikes: being overtired or hungry

Personality: Judd is still very easy-going, unless we're off schedule or he's hungry.

Best moment: We had a fun month! Father's Day at the stockyards, a trip out to the lake, lots of fun playdates and swimming!

Worst moment: Judd had an allergic reaction to something (doctor thinks it was contact dermatitis, meaning he touched something (like grass) and then touched his eye). It was really sad!

Looking forward to: Moving into our new house!!

Judson - 6 months

Age: 6 months

Height: 28"

Weight: 18lbs.

Milestones: Judson is sitting up unassisted so good now! Like, professionally! Ha! I don't have to sit right behind him anymore and he hardly falls. (mostly when big brother comes by and knocks him over) He starting to practice his "Bs", always saying "ba ba ba", and he loves it when we repeat it back to him. He's been leaning forward while sitting and reaching for stuff, almost like he's about to start crawling! Once he tumbles over though, he just face plants, so he has a ways to go! But it's pretty crazy!

Sleep: Judd is such a great sleeper! Thank you, Jesus! He sleeps 7:30pm-7am straight though! Some mornings he wakes early, but he doesn't wake at all during the night. Woohoo! He's taking 3 naps right now, 2 really good naps (atleast 1.5 hours) and 1 catnap in the evenings.

Eating: My goodness, Judd loves to eat! He's eating 3 meals already, and would easily eat 5oz at each feeding if I'd let him. He is also still exclusively breastfed, nursing 4x/day.

Clothes size:  9 months

Diaper size: size 3

Teeth: none yet!

Favorite toy: Judd loves anything he can grab and put in his mouth- Legos, Hot Wheels, books, etc. He's a pretty chill baby.

Likes: Judd looooves his big brother! He loves watching the dogs, going outside, gnawing on his Sofie, eating and sleeping.

Dislikes: being overtired or hungry

Personality: Judd really is an easy-going baby. He very predictable, for the most part, and content as long as we're on schedule.

Best moment: This past month was a lot of fun. We went to a couple play dates, took Judd to the zoo for the first time, and celebrated Jacob's THIRD birthday!

Worst moment: Judd had a bit of a sleep regression or maybe development issue this month. He was waking up more at night, taking short naps or refusing them all together, but I think we've gotten through that and he's much better now!

Looking forward to: Father's Day!

How is Jacob adjusting?: I'm going to take this question off because Jacob is back to normal and doing awesome!

Jacob - 3 years

"Making the decision to have a child - it is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body. ”  - Elizabeth Stone

My sweet boy, there is no better quote to describe my love for you. You are my whole entire heart. And I love you and your brother more than anything in this entire world. You make me a better person. You bring joy to every single day. You make me so proud. You inspire me. You surprise me. You drive me crazy, but after you go to bed I miss you. You are my whole world and I love you so much.

Jacob, you have grown up so much in the past year. You are such a sweet little boy, and SUCH a good big brother! I don't think any of us remember what life was like before Judson, and I am so thankful for that! You are so funny and smart and kind and curious and energetic. You seriously keep me young, but are the reason for my grey hairs.

I love you, Jacob, and I hope you know that every single moment of every single day.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

Age: 3

Height: 40"

Weight: 38lbs.

Milestones: I feel like over the last 6 months Jacob has really morphed into a boy. He's so smart! He knows all his shapes, colors, animals (and corresponding sounds), can count to 20 and knows all his ABCs. He is always singing new songs and will request songs on the radio. I love that he remembers things from day to day, so we can really teach him things now. He's so curious! He is always asking questions, wants to know what everything is and why, and wants to know how things work (future engineer?). He's so funny! He picks up on sarcasm or jokes and is constantly turning it around on us.  He's so active! From the moment he wakes up until the time he goes to bed, he is going. He comes out in the family room and dumps all his trucks out before breakfast is even served. Every. Single. Day. This kid can run, he is FAST and he doesn't fall anymore. It's seriously impressive! He can climb all sorts of things at the playground, including a small "climbing wall" type thing. He hasn't quite figured out how to pedal, but we practice a lot on his big wheel. He's so sweet! He's always kissing and loving on his little brother and is the first person to comfort a friend when they get hurt. Jacob also really loves swimming! He's still going to swim class once a week, he just recently completed "Xtreme Waterbabies" and will be moving to "Advanced Aquatots" next week! I'm so excited for him. He can swim underwater for 10 seconds and moves 10 feet in the water. ALL BY HIMSELF!!! It's so impressive! I am so looking forward to going to the pool with him over the summer and seeing his swim skills in a real environment. Overall he's just such a good little boy! He loves his brother more than I ever could have imagined, and that honestly makes me the happiest mom on the planet!

Sleep: Jacob's nighttime sleep is starting to decrease, but he's making up for it during his nap. He generally sleeps 8pm-7am and takes a 2-3 hour nap (usually 1-3/4pm). He's still in his crib, but just recently he's started waking in the middle of the night because he's cramped in there, so I think we'll be moving him straight to a full-sized bed very very soon!

Eating: Jacob is still very picky. One day he will LOVE strawberries, and the next day he won't even look at them. This seems to be a very common toddler issue, so I usually just go with the flow. He doesn't like breakfast immediately in the mornings, so he gets chocolate milk and then will usually request breakfast around 10am. Lunch is usually a sandwich or lunchable-type plate. For dinner he either eats what we're having, or we'll heat up a corndog or something for him. He has a slew of go-to items, which I always keep around the house. Fruit Loops, Honey Nut Cheerios, Eggo waffles, greek yogurt, bagels, PB&J, Lean Pockets, corndogs, macaroni & cheese, turkey hotdogs, cheese sticks, smoothies, grapes, bananas, green apples, strawberries, cuties, Pirate Booty, Goldfish... He will not eat vegetables unless they're mixed in with something and he doesn't know they're there. :) And he really doesn't like meat, except hotdogs and deli meat. He loves pasta, so we make ravioli or tortellini a lot.

Clothes size: 5T

Diaper size: We moved Jacob into 3T-4T pull-ups. He just recently started making progress in the potty training department, which is awesome! If I ask him to go potty, he will go on the toilet, but he doesn't quite understand the feeling of needing to go yet. His school requires him to be accident-free for 2 weeks before he can be sent in underwear, so we still have ALOT of work. When we're home though, I put him in underwear and set my phone timer for every 30 minutes, and I always make him go. Which he does! So now we just need him to recognize the urge to go BEFORE he goes. Ha!

Teeth: He has them all! Praise Jesus! I think his 2 year molars are still moving around though because he will wake up crying in the middle of the night from time to time.

Favorite toy: He still loves all things that "go"...trucks, cars, planes, trains, etc. He got his first set of Lego Duplo for Easter and he loooves those! He's constantly building stuff.

Likes: his brother (hands down- favorite thing), playing outside, playing on the iPad, running around like a crazy person, swimming

Dislikes: being told "no", mealtimes, when we take the electronics away -- these were all listed on his last update and they're all still true

Personality: I touched on this earlier. He's such a sweet, cautious, curious, friendly, smart, funny little boy.

Looking forward to: He's going to a new school over the summer, so I'm excited to see how he likes it and how he grows. He'll also continue at CUMC in the Fall.

Judson - 5 months

Age: 5 months

Height: we don't go back until next month

Weight: we don't go back until next month

Milestones: this little boy is really turning into a baby lately- he's talking ALL the time, rolling, grabbing everything (including mommy's coffee!), giggling, laughing, enjoying independent time with his brother, he loves playing on his playmat still, he loves the jumperoo, loves spending time in his Bumbo, loves loves loves his big brother, he sits with us at dinner time in his highchair and loves watching us. He got an outdoor swing for Easter from his Coco, and he LOVES swinging! He really is such a happy, easy-going baby! He's also starting sitting up unassisted pretty well! He's still kinda wobbly, so I have to sit right by him, but he sits upright.

Sleep: Judd is such a good sleeper! He's now sleeping 7:15pm-7am, and he still wakes once at night to eat, but goes right back to sleep. He naps 3-4 times during the day; usually 2 good naps (1.5-2 hours) and 1 short nap (45 mins - 1 hour). On days when he doesn't take great naps, or wakes early from his afternoon nap, we'll let him take a short catnap in the evenings. AND! He's completely out of the swaddle now! Woohoo! Life is so much easier without the swaddle! Current schedule is here. And I'll also note that were about to attempt sleep training again.

Eating: I'm pretty sure Judd just went through a growth spurt, because he started waking up twice at night to eat and was eating longer during the day. But I think he's through it now, and back to eating 5x each day (for about 10 min) and once during the night. I also started solids with him this past week, and he's doing great! So far he's only had banana with breastmilk, but he loves it!

Clothes size: we just moved him to 9-month clothes

Diaper size: size 3

Teeth: none! but I am not looking forward to the day he gets teeth, because he already gnaws on my nipples with his gums and it HURTS!

Favorite toy: he still really loves his Sophie, but he also really loves his jumperoo now too!

Likes: oh gosh, this little boy just loves watching everything! he's so observant. he loves (LOVES) watching his big brother, loves watching his puppy dogs, loves watching me talk, and loves looking at himself in the mirror. he also loves diaper changes and chatting on the changing pad. he also loves being outside, swinging and lounging on our laps.

Dislikes: being overtired or hungry

Personality: Judd really is such a sweet, happy, easy-going baby! He definitely has his moments, but for the most part he's very laid-back.

Best moment: we had a fun month! going to big brother's open house, riding on Thomas!, celebrating Cousin Autumn's FIRST birthday!, and my first Mother's Day as a mommy of two.

Worst moment: I hate that we regressed and started eating again at night, but my mama heart just couldn't handle the crying any more. And knowing that he's my last baby makes it ok.

Looking forward to: Big brother's THIRD birthday (and party), lots of outdoor time, and hopefully meeting his namesake!

How is Jacob adjusting?: Jacob is good. He's a good good boy, and a pretty typical (if not good) nearly 3 year old. Love that sweet kid!

I will also note that we switched BACK to Prevacid. Nexium gave Judd awful tummy pains, constipation and eventual diarrhea. So far it seems to be working just fine for him.

Judson - 4 months

My sweet Judson, you are BY FAR the sweetest, happiest, loving, happy baby I've ever met. You are such a dream and I am so thankful for that! You sleep when you're "supposed" to sleep, you eat when you're "supposed" to eat and I cannot ask for anything more! You fit into our family perfectly and truly complete us. I love you sweet boy and thank God every single day for you.

Age: 4 months

Height: 25.8"

Weight: 15lbs 5oz

Milestones: Judd has rolled from back to belly and belly to back, although he doesn't do it consistently! He far prefers laying on his back under his playmat batting at all the toys or gnawing on his hands or Sophie's head. :) He is very drooly and constantly has his hands in his mouth! He can grasp toys better now and actually holds on for a few seconds. He has started sitting in his Bumbo more and really loves being able to see his big brother. He's still very wobbly sitting unassisted and usually just folds over flat. Ha! He's also started spending some time in his jumperoo! He loves the lights and the little sun on it, he'll just stand there and stare at the sun for minutes! So cute! We also moved Judd to the big boy seat on the Bob Duallie and he loves being able to see out, and especially loves being next to his big bro. I think Jacob likes it, too! Last "big" thing is that he's sitting in his highchair at the dinner table with us. Since he wakes up from his evening nap around 6pm, he's awake and happy to sit at the table with us. So cute!

Sleep: Judd takes 2 or 3 long naps (1.5-1.75 hours) and 1 short nap (30 minutes) everyday. We attempted 2 weeks of sleep training to drop his nighttime feed, but it didn't go well. Sooo he still eats at night, usually around 4:30-5. Our current schedule is here.

Eating: Judd is still exclusively breastfed. He eats 5 times every day, all are nursing sessions, except at bedtime, we give him a bottle of pumped breastmilk at bedtime (currently 6.5oz).

Clothes size: 3-6mo // 6 month

Diaper size: size 2, although we've moved him to size 3 at night since he's sttn

Teeth: none

Favorite toy: he loves his Sophie

Likes: his brother, diaper/clothes changes, playing airplane, strawberries, silly faces, "elevator ride" with daddy, going outside, his dogs, and anything in his mouth!

Dislikes: when I eat dairy (ugh), being bored or staying in same spot for too long

Personality: Judd is soo happy and easy-going!!! Love him! He really is the perfect addition to our family!

Best moment: celebrating daddy's birthday, first Easter, sleeping through the night (!!!)

Worst moment: lip tie revision :(

Looking forward to: we've got a lot of fun stuff planned this month- Day Out With Thomas, cousin Autumn's FIRST birthday party, and possibly a trip to meet his namesake! I'm curious how he'll do at all these busy events.

How is Jacob adjusting?: better, I'm getting better at giving him attention and not saying "no" so much, I also notice a difference when we consistently uphold timeout threats

I should also note that we switched Judd to Nexium for his reflux this month. He was super fussy (for him) and not sleeping or eating good, so we took him to the pediatrician and she seemed to think it was his reflux. I have noticed an improvement in him, so I'm guessing she was right!

We also had Judd's lip tie revised this month. The procedure was very short and easy, but I was a wreck. BUT! Now that its behind us, I'm honestly so thankful we had it done. His latch has improved, his overall eating had improved, his SLEEP (!!) has improved, and I was afraid it would mess up his teeth in the future.
