Thanksgiving 2014

Our Thanksgiving morning started off with a Texas sized toddler tantrum. No better way to celebrate, in my opinion. After about an hour of tears and flip flopping, we finally got to enjoy our cinnamon rolls and coffee while watching the Macy's Parade. I always used to love that parade as a kid, but now I'm kinda confused by it...you barely even see the floats and balloons, it's mostly just celebrity interviews and Broadway performances. Not exactly what a 2 year old wants to watch. Or me for that matter! Ha!

We spent the rest of the morning tidying up around the house and cooking. With only 6 people + 1 toddler + 1 baby, I didn't have to put the turkey in SUPER early, which was nice!

I decided to cook my turkey a different way this year. I'm mildly obsessed with The Pioneer Woman right now, so I attempted her turkey "recipe." It was strange to not smother the bird in broth and EVOO and stuff it with carrots, celery and onion (which is how I normally do it), but I think it turned out good! Everyone was complimentary, even Jacob!

As good as the turkey turned out, I think the winning dish was my Nutella pie. Ohhhh lordy! So delicious! This pie would be good any time any day. I'm already thinking of making it for Josh's birthday in March.

Everyone arrived around noon, the kids played a bit while I finished up the side dishes. I just love watching these cousins so so much and cannot wait for years to come. Makes this mama's heart so happy!

Next up was meal time! All the food was delicious, special thanks to my sister-in-law who brought ALL the side dishes! My pregnant self was definitely appreciative of that!

The kids, once again, had a blast. Haha, and the dads got a good workout.

After lunch, Jacob took a siesta and we all ate pie. Yum! Then we took family pictures and kicked everyone out. :)

Love all these folks, especially my little family. These boys (all 3 of them) make my world go 'round!

I hope y'all had a lovely holiday! Let the Christmas decorating commence! :)

Our Thanksgiving

I'm finally getting around to recapping our Thanksgiving. We had a really nice, relaxing break and didn't do much...which is mainly why it's taken me so long to recap it. Not much to say.

As I mentioned before, my mother-in-law hosted Thankgiving this year. So as soon as Jacob woke up on Thursday, we headed down to Cleburne. It's about an hour drive, not too bad.

Jacob spent the morning chasing her cat and wreaking havoc, haha! I helped cook a bit, and opened the wine (of course). We ate lunch around noon, and then Jacob went down for a nap shortly after.

Upon waking, we ate dessert, played outside for a little bit and then headed home.

Here are some cute pictures from the day.

My favorite part of the meal? My MIL's amaaaaazing bourbon chocolate pecan pie. Heaven.on.earth. Yum!! I might have taken all the leftovers and I might have eaten it for lunch numerous times. Might.

We also put up our Christmas tree and amazing Advent Calendar from the Naptime Diaries. I'm loving this new tradition!

I'll leave you with a few pictures from last Thanksgiving. I still can't believe how much he's grown!!!! Tear!

I hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving as well! Cheers!

Thanksgiving style

Thanksgiving means two things- family and food. And being thankful. Make that three.

We're going to my mother-in-law's house for Thanksgiving and I'm so thrilled. I don't have to host this year! Wahoo! I do love hosting, because I don't have to leave the house, but it's such a pain in the arse with a kid. We'll be hosting Christmas this year, so I decided to let my MIL host Thanksgiving.

Since we typically eat our weight in turkey and sides (ohh...the sides...my personal fav), comfortable clothes are a must. And since an absurd amount of pictures will be taken, we gotta look cute!

I scooped up this adorable fair isle sweater from GAP for Jacob, and if the stars all aligned, we'll be buying these awesome TOMS for him today!

1 | 2 | 3

I will probably wear some stretchy jeggings and boots...and an oversized sweater. Haha...I'm all about the comfort level.

Josh has this obsession with "holiday jeans"...he always talks about how certain jeans are good "holiday jeans"...meaning they look nice yet are comfortable enough that he could potentially lay on the couch all day and watch football in them. So, I'm pretty sure Josh will whip out his "holiday jeans" and his go-to Old Navy quarter-zip pullover. Ha! So predictable.

Thanksgiving break

Oh what a glorious 5-day weekend we had! Filled with family, food, fun and relaxation.

For the first time in 5 years, we actually didn't put the Christmas decorations up the day after Thanksgiving, and I have to say - it felt pretty good! We plan to take our time with the decorations this year and will probably go pretty minimal. The energy it takes to put it up and down will be better spent elsewhere.

Instead, we spent most of our days lounging in PJs, eating yummy breakfasts, drinking coffee and playing with our BUSY BUSY boy! He's such a handful these days! It's so fun to see what he's learned and watch him grow. I love having Josh home to experience it with me.

In other news - I polished off the rest of the Thanksgiving leftovers for lunch today. It's always a good feeling to get that out of your fridge. But this year, since I'm breastfeeding and always SO hungry, I'm kinda sad to see it go.

Anyways, here's some fun pictures to recap our break.
