Judson's Nursery

I have been putting this post off for forever, mostly because of this...

Real life, folks. Judson's room used to be Jacob's playroom, and he's clearly having separation anxiety. Every time I clear out this room, Jacob immediately brings all his crap back in plus more. A big F YOU to ole mom, I suppose. Anyways, I finally just took pictures, because this is real life and I shouldn't try to hide it.

I had a lot of fun decorating Judson's nursery, and thankfully I did most of it during the second trimester, because this mama is  t i r e d. I stuck with a grey and navy color scheme, which made things a bit harder because it started getting a little monotonous. But whatever. Let's get this party started.

I made these letters and I absolutely love the way they turned out! They blend in with the grey walls, but still have a nice sheen and POP to them to stand out. I just love them! I did a short tutorial here, if you're interested in making your own.

His crib and bedding were really my inspiration for the entire room. I fell in love with the Preston crib bedding at Pottery Barn Kids and knew I had to have it, regardless of boy or girl. Once I decided on that, I knew a grey crib was necessary. BUT finding a grey crib (at a reasonable price) is kinda hard! I finally decided on this DaVinci crib in slate and waited for  m o n t h s  for it to come back in stock and be delivered. I'm so glad I did thought, because it really is gorgeous!

Josh made this window shelf unit, which I'm certain will help block out sunlight, and I decorated it with a few little toys. If you've been following my blog for awhile or have seen Jacob's room, then the toys in the foreground should look familiar. They're old school toys of Josh and mine, and were in Jacob's nursery until just recently. I just love the nostalgia of it all.

The changing table wall is my favorite part of the whole room, because of that one-of-a-kind gem hanging on the wall. Jacob painted the whole thing and I absolutely LOVE IT! He had so much fun with it and I can just see his personality in it. I really hope Judson loves it (eventually) and it sticks around our house for years to come.

I'm also pretty much obsessed with that lamp. It has a "night light" in the actual lantern that flickers like a real lantern. I just love it! The dresser is DaVinci as well, and was a real beating to put together. Ha!

We'll be moving the rocker from Jacob's room into this room, but we still use it quite a bit with Jacob, so we're trying to come up with a solution for that little problemo.

Soo...what do you think?! I just love how bright and airy this room is, and I hope Judson loves it too!

Baby Soko #2 - nursery ideas

Okay, so as you can probably tell- I'm going with a navy and gray (grey?) color scheme with a tiny bit of a nautical feel.

It all started with the gray furniture and the PBK bedding, both of which I love love love, and I just kinda started adding on from there.

We'll be moving the rocker from Jacob's room into this room, and building a window shelf/unit thingy like this.

First up though- we gotta paint the walls! And that probably won't happen until it cools down a bit, whiiiiiiiich it'll be like October. Le sigh.

Jacob's Nursery!

Jacob's nursery is FINALLY complete and I absolutely love everything about it! It turned out just as I imagined, and I really hope Jacob enjoys it as much as I think he will! :)

I can't wait to spend hours in that rocking chair, nursing, reading, napping and cuddling.
As hard as I tried to keep the nursery sports-neutral, I couldn't resist his first basketball.
Bookcase full of my old books, my sister's old rocking horse, and the shelf above the dresser has lots of our old toys from when we were babies (none safe to play with now, but they look cute).  Still waiting for the custom changing pad cover, but that will eventually go on the dresser!
I'd say he has plenty of clothing options...hopefully he doesn't grow like a weed and outgrow this stuff too quickly!
Figured I should also include a picture of his little corner in our bedroom, where he'll be sleeping the first few months he's home.  Complete with his first teddy from my Aunt Bobbie.

Rocker!

I just had to post a quick blog because I'm SO EXCITED!  We got the rocker yesterday and it looks beyond amazing in the nursery!!!  My sweet mother-in-law bought it for us, and originally it wasn't supposed to come in until early April.  But, she surprised me yesterday and said it came in early!  I am so excited about how great it looks in there.  I can definitely envision hours and hours of rocking in that chair!  Yayyy!!  Thanks, CoCo!!! :)  I put the cute pillow we bought at Canton on it - and it's like it was made to be there...

Nursery status

I haven't blogged about the nursery yet, mainly because we haven't done THAT much, but I wanted to give you an idea of what we're doing!

We painted the nursery "Whispering Wheat" by Glidden.  It's a really light tan - very warm and soothing.  I absolutely LOVE it!  Of course this picture doesn't really do it justice.
We bought the preppiest, cutest, most handsome bedding from Pottery Barn Kids, which I fell in love with as soon as I found out we were pregnant.  I'm afraid if we were having a girl, she would've been stuck with this bedding, too!  We got the quilt, bumper, crib skirt and curtains.  They should arrive this week and I cannot wait to hang the curtains!!
I originally picked-out a furniture set from Buy Buy Baby, which I loved, but it was a little pricey.  However, I found almost an identical collection at Babies R Us, which we're going to purchase tonight!! Woohoo!  I'm only getting a convertible crib (which, let me just say - what a genius idea!), combo dresser and night stand or bookcase (haven't found the perfect piece yet).

My mother-in-law bought us a custom recliner and I can't wait for it to be delivered (early April)! It's the same color as the walls, microfiber (bonus) and super comfy. Josh & I were big "rockers" when we were babies, so I hope we make as many sweet memories with our babies in this recliner.  I will look similar to this one.
I plan on putting a large storage unit in the closet, with canvas bins for bibs, burp cloths, etc. and will put several shelves over the dresser/changing station for decorations and toys.  I'm hoping to find a decent size bookcase for toys and books, which can eventually be used as a nightstand.  Once the bedding arrives, I can start buying decorations and stuff.

So anyways, that's pretty much it!!  I'm so excited to see everything come together and can't WAIT to meet our sweet baby boy.
