i believe fun is a renewable resource

AMEN! This weekend was nothing but FUN! We finally had a weekend to ourselves, to enjoy the house, unpack and start on the little details throughout the house.

My first task - unpacking the plethora of boxes we had all over the house. I'm the type of girl that unpacks my luggage the second we get in the house from a vacation (after going to the bathroom, of course)...so let me just tell you...having boxes full of junk scattered all of the house is NOT my thing. I have been dying to unpack these boxes, so I was very glad to get those out of the way.

Second - Josh got to fertilize and mow the grass. It was only 86 degrees, and he was sweating pretty good...I can't wait to see him in the middle of August - EEK! "Honey...do you want a cold beer"

Third - we replaced all our bathroom hardware (i.e. towel racks, toilet paper racks, hand towel racks, toothbrush holder, etc). Not only did we learn how to hang a toilet paper rack, but we learned how to use a drill! HAHA!

Fourth - we got to sleep in!!!!

I'm so thrilled to see how the house is evolving and it just feels so great to lay on our couch knowing we own this entire place.

I couldn't ask for anything more.

Love,
Kate

Homeownership

So here is my first post from the comfort of our new house. Today I mowed my lawn for the first time. It's a cool feeling to mow your own yard. I guess I take a little more pride in it than when I mowed my parents' lawn growing up. Today was definitely a tidying up day....me working outside & Kate inside, & then we both worked on touch-up paint. After a day's work is done it is really nice to just sit & take it all in, that this is our house where we will make so many memories. It makes me proud to see how we've customized it & to look at everything we have accomplished. Home ownership is cool. It's definitely work, & I've always heard that, but it's work that really, really pays off & is fun to do. I might not enjoy the yard work as much when it's 105 degrees in August, but I'll still gladly do it. So I guess this blog it just about me being happy to be here in my new house with my beautiful wife & salty sea dog (Mav).

Jesus made it, so can you!

LENT is finally here! I love this time of year - its my favorite way to show Jesus how much I love him. He gave his life, the least I can do is give up french fries (that is what I gave up last year).

This year, Josh is giving up all fried foods and I'm giving up cussing. At the end of the day, I end up giving up fried foods, too - so booyah!

What are you giving up for Lent??

Kate

softball season 2009

It's that time again! Softball season! As terribly miserable as it is to sit in the freezing cold 40 MPH winds, nothing compares to sitting in the cold with your family - its all about the memories, and I love making them with my fabulous husband and awesome family.

If you don't already know, my sister is the starting shortstop for the Lady Cyclone softball team at Iowa State University in Ames, IA. She has always been such an amazing athlete, but she is really starting to shine at ISU and I am just SO proud of her. Here is an awesome article about her from this weekend.

My mom & dad came up on Thursday evening to spend the weekend in Denton, but they first spent the evening with Josh & I in Plano. My wonderful dad is re-doing the tile in our new house, so he combined the Denton tournament with the tile - PERFECT!

We woke up at 7am on Saturday morning, temperature was 44 winds about 30-40 MPH - it was pretty brutal, but Starbucks definitely made it better. We had a game at 10am and 5:30pm, so we spent the entire day on the go...by the time 10pm rolled around we were exhausted and in bed. Sunday morning, we woke up at 7am again for another 10am game. I am proud to report the Cyclones went 4-1 this weekend, making their record 13-4(best in school history).

I feel so lucky to have married an athlete and total sport nut, not to mention a HUNK. Expect many more softball posts - we have 3 more months of this! I love you, sissy poo, and I can't wait to see you again.

Love,
Kate
